King Cakes, beads, and parades galore! Open your parasols and let them soar! On February 23rd festive tunes and musical performance by Mike Morris set the mood of Summerfield’s 2nd annual Mardi Gras ball.

Mardi Gras King and Queen photoAnderson B. and Marion Wilson, the 2011 King and Queen, began this magical night by throwing beads from their personalized parade float (golf cart); resident’s lined the halls to greet and catch Mardi Gras beads. As the float passed residents followed behind until they reached the grand ballroom which was lavishly decorated in purple green, and gold. Upon arrival both the King and Queen received an introduction followed by their own speeches. Queen Marion insisted that all must dance!!!

After enjoying muffalettas, King Cake, and punch residents participated in the “Second Line” dance lead by our Marketing Director Ms. Tammy Abney. All who attended dressed in traditional Mardi Gras attire with whimsical masks, boas, and beads to match.
