At HomePlace we encourage participation by residents in activities that promote self-esteem, stimulate memory, offer enjoyment and meet each individual’s needs. It is with the assistance of family members that we are able to design individual programs that enhance skills. A typical day at HomePlace is designed to match individual needs.

We work closely with families, offering residents the level and variety of activities they enjoy. Programs include everyday activities that assist your loved one in maintaining their self esteem.
An activity like baking reinforces a variety of skills such as motion, sensory, and memory. When baking we use the motion skill in our measuring, mixing and pouring, and then apply our sensory skill in viewing and smelling. Scents promote memory skills such as Mom baking cookies when the resident was a child. Other daily activities include:
Gardening in our beautiful courtyard. |
Stretching to promote good posture and keep residents limber. |
Creating artwork by painting with brushes and fingers. |
Courtyard walking. |
Exercise through the use of tossing a ball, stretching and swaying to music. |

In addition to daily activities, special events are recognized and celebrated through activities as well as shared with family and friends.
Holidays are a wonderful opportunity to invoke fond memories and create new experiences. Christmas, for example, is celebrated traditionally, and includes a turkey dinner, Christmas Carols, baking, cooking and decorations just like home. We also celebrate individual birthdays and other calendar holidays. |
