Miss Julia Brenner arrives in East Wenatchee with her family and enters a three year nursing program in Yakima. |
| 1931 |
Julia completes her schooling and graduates from St. Anthony’s in Yakima with a Registered Nursing Degree. |
| 1932 |
The first total care facility for senior citizens in the Wenatchee Valley opens when Julia accepts her first patient into her five bedroom home under the name of “Highline Nursing Home.” |
| 1946-47 |
Several small cabins were built behind the Brenner home and the North wing addition was completed bringing the total occupancy up to 51 beds. |
| Oct. 1947 |
The Board of Douglas County Commissioners officially grants permission for the operation of “Highline Sanitarium.” |
| 1958 |
South wing addition was completed and the kitchen was remodeled to accommodate the addition of 29 more rooms bringing the total occupancy up to 80 beds. |
| 1959 |
Miss Julia turns the title and equity of the nursing home over to the Diocese of Yakima but continues to act as the facility Administrator. |
| 1962 |
The facility celebrates 30 years of service to seniors in the Wenatchee Valley hosting an open house. |
| 1972 |
At the age of 79 Miss Julia retires as the Administrator but continues to help care for the patients. |
| 1975 |
The Diocese of Yakima sells the facility to private owners Triple C Healthcare is formed and begins to manage the property. The facility is renamed “Highline Convalescent Center” and Miss Julia retains her original quarters and remains on the premises until her death on August 10, 1986. |
| 1984-85 |
Planning and construction on the West wing addition begins. |
| 1986 |
The West wing addition is officially completed and Highline’s occupancy goes up to 101 beds. |
| 2001 |
Two of the owner’s retire and ownership and partnerships are adjusted to accommodate this change. The facility goes through its final name change to “Highline Care Centers.” |
| Oct 2007 |
Highline Care Centers celebrates 75 years of service with an open house and guided tours of the facility. |
