Where the Heart Is and Homeplace Special Care of Burlington have donated their old community bus to a great cause. Now it will be used by Rice Bowl Ministries to feed low-income and homeless people in Skagit County.
We had asked around to see if a local non-profit could use the bus and we did not have much of a response, says Elena Roppel of Homeplace Burlington. Elena had been contacting local agencies to see if anyone could use the old bus and was not having any luck, until Cal from Rice Bowl Ministries came to the door.
A local group, Rice Bowl Ministries ran by Cal and Jackie Rice has dedicated themselves in feeding the hungry and help clothe the poor in Skagit County. The donation of the bus is going to help make this happen for them and their Ministries. “This is just a blessing and a prayer answered”, said Cal Rice. Rice Bowl Ministries have been waiting to be able to serve more people with the help of a mobile unit. Now that they have this mobile unit to deliver food and clothing, they will be able to reach many more people in need in the county.
